At AFC Storage & Parking, our team travels along Main Beach Road every day between Brisbane Airport and the Brisbane International Cruise Terminal.
Over the years, we have come to know the local wildlife that calls this area home. We regularly see families of birds, ducks, and other native animals living in the wetlands, bushland, and waterways that surround the road. We watch them grow, move between habitats, and raise their young.
Sadly, we also witness the heartbreaking reality of wildlife being struck by vehicles. Sometimes we notice that a family we have seen for months is getting smaller. We realise that some of the birds or animals have been lost on the road. It is especially difficult to see when young birds and their parents are affected.
This is why AFC Storage & Parking is asking all travellers, visitors, and local drivers to take extra care when travelling between Brisbane Airport and the Brisbane International Cruise Terminal. A few seconds of caution can make the difference between life and death for the wildlife that shares this area with us.
Together, we can help protect the unique birds and animals of Pinkenba and ensure future generations can continue to enjoy this special environment
Every day, thousands of travellers use Main Beach Road to access Brisbane Airport parking facilities and the Brisbane International Cruise Terminal. While this road is an important transport link, it also passes through one of Brisbane's unique coastal environments, home to a diverse range of native birds, wildlife, and fragile ecosystems.
Pinkenba is surrounded by mangroves, wetlands, and natural habitats that provide shelter and feeding grounds for many species. Unfortunately, animals and birds are frequently injured or killed by vehicles travelling along this route. Many of these incidents can be prevented through greater awareness and responsible driving.
When travelling to or from airport parking or cruise terminal parking, we encourage all drivers to take extra care:
Every animal plays an important role in maintaining the balance of the local environment. By driving carefully, visitors can help protect the wildlife that makes Pinkenba a special part of Brisbane.
As a local business serving airport and cruise terminal travellers, we believe that protecting our community includes protecting the wildlife that shares this area with us. A few extra seconds of caution can save a life and help preserve Pinkenba's natural heritage for future generations.
Please drive safely, respect local wildlife, and help keep Pinkenba a safe place for animals, birds, residents, and visitors alike.
